Company receives recognition for employee benefits, work/life balance and corporate culture by Utah Business Magazine
Salt Lake City, December 12, 2016 – Great Basin Scientific, Inc. (OTCQB: GBSN), a molecular diagnostics company, today announced it was named a “Best Companies to Work For” in 2016. Great Basin received the first-time recognition from Utah Business Magazine in the medium-sized company category, for companies with 100 to 500 employees.
“From the beginning, we set out to build the kind of company where people want to go to work every day – a place where everyone feels respected and valued, and in an environment of openness and collaboration, where people can make a meaningful contribution to our mission of improving patient care and reducing the cost of healthcare,” said Ryan Ashton, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Our culture didn’t just happen – it is a result of demonstrating those values in how we run our business, how we care for our customers, and by hiring people who share that commitment and hold each other to those values. We are pleased our employees consider Great Basin a great place to work and we’re honored to receive this recognition.”
Companies across Utah entered a rigorous selection process to compete for the Best Companies to Work For recognition. Competing companies were evaluated on a review of benefits, pay, fairness, opportunities, as well as corporate culture and internal communications. The process also included an anonymous and voluntary employee survey of at least 50% of each company’s employees. A combined score determined winners. Companies who received top honors were those that recognized talent and achievement, had low turnover, and received high marks from employees.
Great Basin employees gave the Company high marks for its benefits package, work/life balance, fun environment, and company culture. Some of the employee comments included:
- “Great Basin has the best work environment I have ever been in. The employees are treated respectfully and they put an emphasis on family/work balance.”
- “Competitive salary, flexibility, 100% paid health insurance, PTO, great atmosphere, wonderful people, dream job!”
- “Free lunches on Wednesday, flexible work schedules, and dogs are allowed!”
- “Great Basin is a collaborative, energetic and team-oriented environment. Every player is focused on achieving and exceeding company goals and directives to drive our success. It is a workplace that makes you feel like you are a part of something Great!”
Great Basin and other winning companies were honored at an awards luncheon hosted by Utah Business Magazine on December 8, 2016 at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.
